About Jacks Creek Center

The Jacks Creek Riding Stable is a small jewel located in Madison County. Once part of a large farm, the area has been given over to subdivisions, but this one bit of Bluegrass yet remains. At one time, many many years ago (ha ha to our friends who learned to ride there as children), it was a thriving riding center but time and disinterest let it fade into a diminished version of its former self.

Purchased a few years ago by Bob Heyer, and through his generous efforts, JCRS is making a comeback. He has generously granted us a 20 year lease for the use of the arena, stalls, pasture and another barn to KFTHC in return for our help in returning the  place to the jewel it once was.

KFTHC is very grateful to Bob's confidence in KFTHC's volunteers and to his generous offer.

"Come visit KFTHC and enjoy this bit of the Bluegrass in Richmond."

The photograph above shows a collection of the object we found in the original arena footing. It was a daily treasure hunt of broken pottery and glass, nails, bits of chains, and other what knots. Not the optimum surface for riding.
In 2021, KFTHC received a grant from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels to replace the ancient clay and wood chip footing with river sand.
Thanks to the Kentucky Colonels, and Maddie, Alicia, Christopher, Mark and Cheryl for the hard work of removing the old footing and replacing it.
Additional Thanks to By Pass Rental for the donation of the use of a skid steer loader for the week it took to make the change.
