Meet our Horses

We currently have  some truly wonderful horses and ponies.
Rocky was the elder statesman born into Mark's arms on April 29, 1988. the youngster of the herd is Denny.  Our horses are chosen for their disposition and gaits and trained extensively for desensitization and control.

Our horses are trained using the natural horsemanship methods
taught by Clinton Anderson, Monty Roberts, Ray Hunt, Pat Parelli, Buck Brannaman and others
and we started working with Zephyr, Woody, Luci and Cinco the day they were born.

Picture
Arroyo - Born in 2005, Roy is gelded, 1/2 Spanish Mustang, 1/2 Rocky Mountain.
Roy loves to have his picture taken. This picture was not posed by any human, Roy was loose and longing to play. Roy is the boss of the herd and likes to prove it. He is very friendly and has a high play drive. A lovely small trot makes him the go-to for riders' first trots. He does not like the sound of rain on a tin roof and gets very frisky. This makes a fun ride for an experienced rider!

Rest In Peace Coins Real Motion - Born in 1994, Jack was a Tennessee Walking Horse.   He was mistreated in his previous life as a show horse and suffered from Post Traumatic Stress.  Through patience and many hours of kind treatment, Jack grew to trust that we wouldn't harm him.
Sadly, at the ripe old age of 28, Jack began to suffer from arthritis and had difficulty getting up from lying down. Poor old guy was just worn out, so we had him put down in the woods near his barn home up in Jackson County. It was a beautiful day and he died peacefully with those who loved him.

Picture
Luci - Born in 2008, Luci is a Kentucky Mountain Pleasure Horse. Luci is a full sister to Cinco and half sister to Zephyr.  Luci has a wonderful disposition and is willing and curious. This year she will be rejoining the herd as a therapy horse after her treatment for ERU (Equine Recurring Uveitis). She had ERU in her left eye which caused her a lot of pain from the subsequent glaucoma and other complications. Her eye was removed in 2023 by Dr. Stephanie Bell, an Equine Opthalmologist at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Here is the link to their Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/HagyardEquineMedical/

Picture
Zephyr - Born in 2005, Zephyr is a Kentucky Mountain Pleasure Horse. Zephyr is Woody's half sibling and he's her uncle.  We've worked with Zephyr since she was one day old.  She's a five gaited horse (walk, trot, canter, running walk and rack) and moves like a dream. She is a bit sassy and expects to be respected. She also loves to knock things over in the arena.

Picture
Woody - Born in 2005, Woody is a gelded Kentucky Mountain Pleasure Horse, however he is a walk-trot-canter horse rather than a smooth gaited horse. Woody is truly unflappable. He has a beautiful trot with lots of elevation. Woody is the go-to horse for complicated or unsteady riders. He will not move if things don't seem right with his rider but once he is sure things are alright he will move like a dream.

Picture
Rest in Peace Rocky - Rocky was a gelded Tennessee Walker/Black Squirrel cross.  At 27 Rocky was the curmudgeon of the herd and was retired. He was a smooth gaited horse. You could drink tea while riding and look great. Rocky passed at the ripe old age of 30 on the farm about 100 yards from where he was born.

Picture
Cinco- born in 2010, he is Luci's full brother. His mother was also Zephyr's mother. He is as smart as can be and is a great ride for any rider regardless of their age. He is quite handsome and in the prime of his life. Long Live Cinco de Mayo!

Picture
Rest in Peace- Gorgeous George - George was a gem of a gelded Shetland Pony.  George was lots bigger than he looked and ruled the roost around the other horses.  George had a wonderful disposition and is very affectionate.
George died peacefully in 2020.

Picture
Daisy June - is a Haflinger / Welch Pony cross.  Daisy has  been used as a jumper and in halter class in shows.  She has been in the riding program for 16 years and is now ready for pre-retirement activities.

Picture
Denny is half Shetland Pony, half Miniature Horse and 100% attitude. At only 9 hands tall (36") he still manages to make his presence known. He's only around 9 years old so there's lots of mileage left on his tiny feet! In his past life he was a cart pony and we hope to revive and refine this skill in the future.

Picture
Elvis- is a registered Quarter Horse   and a retired rodeo horse. His former owner was the "heeler" in a roping team. At 23 years old he is                 nonplussed by all of the herd "drama" and makes his own way                        peacefully through stable and pasture life. He's a striking blue roan with amazing markings and is a favorite at the stable due to his noble demeanor and calm nature.
